Online Ground School

There are 4 groups of instrument ratings.

Group 1: Multi Engine
May also fly IFR in group 2, 3
Group 2: Multi Inline
May also fly IFR in group 3

Group 4: Helicopter 

Validly time

Instrument ratings are good for 2 years to the end of the month. In the second year, in order to be current a instrument rating pilot must complete 6 hours of instrument flying conducting 6 instrument approaches in the last 6 months. To renew the instrument rating a flight test must be performed.
