Our Flight Instructors:

One of the highlights of the Providence Aviation Program is the very long cross country. This year 7 students, 2 instructors, in 3 airplanes are going to Houston Texas, New Orleans Louisiana, and Waxhaw North Carolina! Follow their adventures through their blog!

Flight instructors needed. Interested in all classes of instructor ratings and Commercial pilots looking to obtain a instructor rating. Candidates could also work as linesmen/dispatchers as they obtain instructor rating. In last 12 months we flew 23,000 + hours with expanding single and multi engine fleet including EFIS training. There won’t be better time then now to start a flying career. Exciting times!

Another 172P has been added to the fleet. It’s registration is C-FSNV. It’s on the line now at St. Andrews.
Another Cessna 152 is currently in Steinbach being imported from the USA. Expected to be on the line by the end of February!

Pitts S2B C-FRDY is getting new fabric and a detailed inspection. All are welcome to check the project out in the hanger. The goal is to have the Pitts flying in time for the aerobatic season this summer.

Brad Perkins, the director of the Winnipeg FIC will give a talk the new weather products, flight planning, RCOs, DRCO, MF, ect. Lots of good stuff I’m sure. All students, instructors, rental pilots are strongly encouraged to attend!

Apply for the Neil Armstrong Scholarship. First place scholarship is valued at $7,000. Second place $3,000 and third place $2,000 toward flight training.

Wanted: Dispatchers/Linesmen. Duties include fueling airplanes, student pickups, phones, customer service, and hangering airplanes. Ideal for somebody looking for a start into aviation. All students are welcome to apply to adam@harvsair.com

Air Cadets 2007 – Continuing a successful program from the last five years, the Air Cadet league and the Department of National Defense have once again decided Harv’s Air to be worthy of training Air Cadets toward their Private Pilot Licence in 2007. This page will be used for progress reports and information before, during, and after the air cadets training. Feel free to contact us if you have questions.

Seminar: Air Deccan Pilot, Sandeep Cariappa returns to talk about his experience after leaving Harv’s Air 3 years ago. He will discuss his flight training, conversion process, initial airline type training on a Airbus, and daily airline life. This seminar is open to all Harv’s Air students and will be invaluable for Indian students. There is no charge for the seminar. Sat, June 30 at 1pm at the STEINBACH location.

We are excited to announce that we have added a Diamond DA40 with the Garmin 1000 instrument panel! This airplane is absolutely beautiful. The last few years have seen Harv’s Air grow at an amazing rate. Since our expansion to St Andrews (Winnipeg) our flight hours have more than doubled. I am very grateful to our students who have made this possible. It has been exciting to see students move into commercial flying positions both in Canada and abroad. Countries like India and China have seen the need for pilots increase at an incredible rate.

FAA (American Pilot Licence) conversions is now drastically easier and faster. In short if you have a FAA licence and want a Canadian pilot licence you have to get a Canadian Medical, and complete a air law conversion exam and then you’ll have a Canadian Licence. Details can be found here.

Recently purchased from New York, Cessna 152 C-FIYJ and C-FIYL. This brings our total Cessna 152 fleet to 13! As with other airplanes these 152s will be upgraded and refurbished as time allows.

We are looking forward to a busy fall: Welcome to all new and returning students! Students are arriving from Toronto, Winnipeg, Oman, India (9), Sri Lanka, UK, France, Thompson, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Norway, Red lake, PEI, Edmonton, and more. We are honored to have students travel near and far to Harv’s Air. Special welcome to Providence, SBC, and Red River College students.

Harv’s Air now operates from 2 locations; Steinbach South airport, and the new location at the St. Andrews airport (just north of Winnipeg). Variety has always been a major theme in our flight training programs, and we are excited to be able to increase the variety for our flight students.

Red River College: Aviation Management Program Diploma
Red River College and Harv’s Air are partnering together to offer an Aviation Management Program Diploma commencing this fall. An information meeting will be held at the Red River College on Princess street (room A104) on August 17 at 6pm. Anybody interested is welcome to attend. ST. ANDREWS AIRPORT, Man. – The new Harv’s Air: St. Andrews is commencing operations at St. Andrews Airport on July 4th, delivering complete flight training services using a large fleet of training aircraft and modern flight simulators.

We are not exactly sure who came up with this bright idea, a 3-plane flight to the west coast. So the idea began to gather momentum, the route, the logistics, the financials and all that goes along. The time building phase of the commercial flight training has been described by a few instructors as being the most fun. This trip would prove that view correct.

Long range tanks, all red paint scheme. Online now for $87.50/hour (with fuel, insurance, headsets). Perfect for time building!

In the “What’s Happening” section, comments can now be left for students who have accomplished a milestone in their flight training. Pass the word on to family and friends!!
