Just got a update from Tomas:

Still stuck in Flagstaff. Now due to snow. We are waiting for a window and then head out west, possibly Vegas. Grand Canyon is out due to weather.

We woke up in our hotel and opened the window to 3 inches of fresh snow – not what you want to see in Arizona when you just flew 800 miles to get away from the stuff. Darryl called FSS (flight service station) for a weather briefing which went something like:

Darryl: “We’re leaving Flagstaff and want a WX briefing.”
FSS Guy: “Have you looked out the window?”
Darryl: “Uh…”
FSS Guy: “That would be pretty a self-explanatory weather briefing don’t you think?” (very sarcastically)

In short, to an Arizona FSS Specialist, the weather was not good.

Note: As of Thursday, Darryl still had not recovered from the sarcastic tones of this FSS specialist and we all believe that he is harboring some bitter feelings as he tends to bring it up hourly.

Tomas and Darryl went up for some circuits to check it out and determined it would be safe to fly. We took off into scattered at 9000’ with light showers along the route and determined that Arizona flight service has never actually seen weather before. The pilots had a lot of practice diverting as we changed plans along the route several times due to reported weather, and wound up in Kingman AZ. After a short break, we were off to the busy Las Vegas airspace. The controllers were friendly, although very busy, and the pilots did a great job at dealing with clearances and navigating through the busy class B airspace.
