Day three... In Tuscon, and a visit with UIM!

We started out the day from Las Cruces, and saw the many pecan farms that dot the landscape as we flew over. Las Cruces is know for pecans, and our airport host (Hal Kading of Southwest Aviation) had a fresh bowl of them on his counter for us to try--right from his orchard!

As we assembled our aircraft for the morning, the sun was peeking just over the the San Andreas Mountains, and the moon was preparing tos et to the west--stunning!

Today’s flight was a short hop. Tuscon, Arizona was the day’s goal,

UIM is located at Ryan Field, and the airstrip is undergoing significant upgrades. Everywhere one looked, new pavement and facilities were to be seen. This airport is nearly mint!

Bryon Brock of UIM hosted us, giving us a tour of the UIM facilities and taking all of the hungry guys out to dinner at the Golden Corral.

The temperature here... Wow! How about a high of approximately 23 degrees Celcius! I know that this may make many of you in Manitoba Jealous... A few moments soaking in the sunshine was definetly in order!

An evening of go-carting and bowling completed the day.

UIM graciously offered us a guest house, and as of this writing, we are being billeted in a lovely little southwestern style home with a great view of the mountains that surround us in all quardrants!

On tap for tomorrow... A visit to the PAMI Air and Space museum, and then off to New Tribes Mission!
