Recreational Pilot Permit requirements and checklist

Documents to bring in:    

Proof of age–16 years
Medical Fitness — CAT 4 medical, valid medical certificate, or medical assessment letter
Proof of Knowledge — 60% RPPAE or PPAER (bring written results)
English Language test completed–if not, contact examiner
Completed application form for RPP, including all signatures
PTR — thoroughly filled in and completed by instructor and student
Photo and booklet application  (you need 1 passport style picture with the date and stamp)
$55 fee to Transport Canada — by cheque to Receiver General of Canada, Credit card

Experience to confirm (between logbook and PTR–must match!)
25 hours total
15 dual with 2 hours dual cross country
5 hours of solo
Within 12 months, flight test passed

Check:   

PTR completed:
P and D for everything
Record of Ground school
Preparatory ground times all recorded
Recommend pages completed
TC written results
All signatures entered
Times add up and make sense
Cross country routes filled in–each individual leg should have it’s own line
Log book and PTR match
Application form filled in properly, signed
